In the Spring and Summer of 2014, I held a merchandising internship with the Corvallis Knights, a collegiate level summer baseball league. The organization is sponsored by Penny Knight, and with few full time office staff members, interns are given a lot of responsibility.
As a merchandising intern, we developed designs and organized orders with the guidance of our supervisor, who was an intern the previous year. Below are some of the womens designs we settled on.

We also had promotional duties by delivering pocket schedules and posters to companies throughout the surrounding towns, and attending promotional community appearances with our mascot, Mac the Knight, or a few of the players.
During the season, I experienced putting on some entertainment events between innnings, crowd control, set up and take down, selling tickets, creating Instagram posts, developing and implementing sales, and merchandising and selling of our own products.

This experience was wonderful in that it gave me a closer insight into buying merchandise to sell. We discovered the value in ordering samples before ordering large quantities as we were disappointed by the quality and effectiveness of the seat cushions we ordered.
We had two set up, one by the front gates with two interns running it, and one by the stands along the first base line. I ran the latter, and this was my favorite responsibility. It empowered me to get to set up and remerchandise every game day. I gained an understanding of how to organize products to emphasize certain ones, and I learned the value of remerchandising to vary what passing customers can look at and what they are drawn to.
